"If exercise isn't fun, you won't do it." - Chalene Johnson

Growing up I was always involved in some kind of athletics, from softball & basketball to gymnastics & ice skating. Starting in high school, I began playing volleyball, something I still play today. But with all this involvement in team activities, I never applied the “team aspect” to my non-sports-related physical fitness. I spent years sweating along with many different cardio and dance aerobics videos in my living room thinking, “Why do I need to be in a group fitness situation? I can do this on my own at home.” And, technically, you can do that. What group fitness brings to the table, though, is an environment of like-minded people with whom you can connect, and while encouraging each other to push the limits of what you think you can do, laugh with and enjoy each other’s company. This is what I want to promote in my classes as a group fitness instructor–to provide an environment where you push outside your comfort zone to achieve the results you want and enable others to do the same.
