“Today is the chance to change yourself for the better. Just do it!”
Hometown: Detroit, KS
As a teenager I was highly involved with cheerleading, dance team, and Kung Fu, but like a lot of ladies I started neglecting my health after having children. When I was diagnosed with high risk health concerns including hypo-thyroidism and breast cancer I knew I had to start making my health a priority again. It wasn’t till after stepping on the scale and seeing my highest weight that I truly got motivated to do something. One year and a half after undergoing my fourth surgery for breast cancer I was able to start exercising again. I started by taking Zumba and I found it so energizing that I actually looked forward to coming to the gym. I started to see inches and pounds coming off and the best things about it was my confidence level was going up. I decided to get my Zumba certification and have been passionately teaching every since. I teach because I was given a second chance in life and I want to give back to others what was so graciously given to me. I realize that it doesn’t matter your age, what size you are, or your fitness level because most everyone can move! I want every person to feel good about that person they see in the mirror and realize that they are valuable, beautiful, and have a meaningful purpose!
